Pre-order: Silverware - One True Light Posted 12 Jul 2024

Over the moon to announce next month's release, Silverware's sophomore album One True Light!

"With sophomore album One True Light, San Francisco-based artist Ainsley Wagoner takes her long-evolving project Silverware into a new space, one with many rooms but no predictable blueprint. Wagoner’s visionist production serves as the connective tissue between experiments with cellophane-wrapped synth pop, subtly jazz-tinged early morning reflections, and Friday night shout-along anthems. The stylistic streams change often and drastically, but Wagoner’s dynamic vocals and multidimensional compositional style stay in complete focus and control on every moment of this document of vibrant, exponential creative growth."
-Fred Thomas

Pre-order : Alek Barkats - Here we are in the garden Posted 21 Jun 2024

Thrilled to have Alek Barkats debut album as our July release!

Alek Barkats is songwriter and multi-instrumentalist living in Philadelphia. He established himself in the Bay Area music scene, both recording and touring his own music, and as a pianist in several projects- including singer-songwriter Lizzy Dutton’s live band, and the instrumental, jazz-rock ensemble, Cheap Charms.

Barkats’ upcoming sophomore album is the warm and thoughtful Here we are in the garden. The album’s 10 deeply personal songs range from sunny acoustic strummers to piano-led ballads, characterized by Barkats’ calm and poetic delivery. Echoing the breezy melodies of Belle & Sebastian and the theatrics of Randy Newman, Barkats paints a world with daydreaming dogs and romantic descriptions of television, where each song feels like an ode to the little lives we cultivate.

Most of HWAITG was recorded at Oakland’s Itinerant Home by Geoff Saba, who also plays on the album. The remainder was recorded in Philadelphia where Alek Barkats relocated, serendipitously moving into the apartment below audio engineer and musician Heather Jones. Jones and Barkats added hammond organ at Philly’s legendary Headroom Studios, and wrapped up vocals at Jones’ own studio, So Big Auditory.

Featuring a cast of Bay Area musicians including Emmett Moskowitz (Magic Fig, Froogies Groovies), David Mandle (Moral High Horses), Ben Hartman (Old Time Relijun), Travis Snyder (Catch Prichard, The Sunshine Bores), Lizzy Dutton, Artur Friedhoff (Cheap Charms), Abe Finkelstein (The Forgetmenauts), Nansamba Ssensalo (California Honeydrops), Geoff Saba (Forest Floor), and Tacie Moskowitz.

Tapes are up for pre-order now. The limited cassette run (/50) comes on normal bias marble blue tape, hand duplicated in real time at Ghost Mountain Records in Seattle, WA. Included is a digital download code, which for US and Canada based shipping, is on wildflower seed paper by Botanical Paperworks.

Pre-order Announce: Brenna Bruce - Honest Bloom Posted 05 Apr 2024

Delighted to announce our next release, the debut EP from Seattle's Brenna Bruce, Honest Bloom.

"Following a path of curiosity and introspection, her music moves with a quiet power, balancing sharpness and tenderness with an understood patience.

Bruce pulls from the tradition of vulnerable folk through delicate and crystalline vocal prowess akin to Courtney Marie Andrews and Emmylou Harris, with the simplicity and focus of Gillian Welch’s storytelling. On her forthcoming debut EP Honest Bloom, Bruce weaves ambling stories of the heart with peripheral landscapes passing through the deserts, rivers, and mountains of her past in the southwest, and present in the Pacific Northwest.

Honest Bloom inhabits spaces of liminality and cyclical growth, spinning themes of connection, belonging, and becoming, with lilting pedal steel and string arrangements, tethered by pulsing percussion and the intentional delivery of Brenna’s vocal harmonies carrying each sentiment to fruition. Honest Bloom is a capsule of time, reckoning with the ever-unfolding path of being and learning life’s lessons, and Brenna Bruce is an artist burgeoning with timeless truths."

-Hannah Frances

We are excited to release Honest Bloom on tape. The limited cassette run (/50) comes on normal bias split pea green tape, hand duplicated in real time at Ghost Mountain Records in Seattle, WA. Included on the tape is the bonus track "Move - Live at Fremont Abbey," as well as a digital download code, which for US and Canada based shipping, is on wildflower seed paper by Botanical Paperworks.
